GSAF AI

Who we are

A training and certification programme for the Global South, run by people who build with these tools in the places they are meant to serve.

The idea

Most AI training is written in the North, for the North, and sold to the South as an import. A newsroom in Accra, a district office in Kerala and a civic lab in Bogotá face different constraints, different material and different risks.

So the curriculum is built on real material, taught by practitioners from the region and assessed on real tasks rather than recall. Certification makes that capability legible to an employer, a funder or a ministry.

How we teach

Real material

Every exercise runs on the documents, data and workflows the group already uses.

Project groups

Four groups per programme, each with a deliverable that has to work outside the room.

Assessment on practice

People are assessed on what they produce, not on what they remember.

Critical by default

Limits, bias, cost and data sovereignty are part of the curriculum, not an appendix.
